Zweigelt Rosé Roansé Bessererhof 2024 750 ml – summer freshness from the Schlern
This rosé comes from the Bessererhof in Völs am Schlern, where the Mair family has been cultivating wine for five generations. What makes the “Roansé” special is its origin as a saignée from the powerful Zweigelt “Roan”. Around 8–12 hours after maceration, 10–15% of the must is drawn off – enhancing the complexity of the red wine, while the rosé coloured must is fermented separately at a cool 18°C. Five months of ageing on the fine lees with regular bâtonnage give it depth and structure.
In the glass, the Roansé shows a light cherry red colour. On the nose, it reveals clear, fruity aromas of cherry, strawberry and wild berries with a delicate hint of spice. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, with very fine tannins, good structure and a mineral, fruity finish. The steep vineyard sites at the foot of the Schlern – influenced by cool Eisack Valley currents and the warmer air from the Bolzano basin – shape the character of this wine.
