Inspired by a poppy seed strudel his sister once baked for him, Peter Lageder plowed his field in 2012 and focused on growing poppies from that point on. The effort involved in cultivation is considerable: intensive weeding, which begins at an early growth stage, the challenging harvest, drying the poppy seeds, and the meticulous separation of chaff and seeds. However, the magnificent, albeit very short, flowering period and the extraordinary poppy seed strudels baked with these fragrant poppies reward all the effort!
