The Unterthurner distillery was founded in 1947 in Marling – by Ignaz Unterthurner and his wife Luise, in a time of post-war rebuilding. In the 1980s, son Alois and his wife Christine shifted the focus to berries, especially raspberry – an unusual choice at the time that became the distillery's signature. Today Stephan and Renate Unterthurner run the distillery as the third generation. Beyond classic fruit brandies and liqueurs, the range now includes rum, vermouth and wood-aged spirits. The original recipes from the founding era are passed down from generation to generation.
